Theoretical linear algebra (Math 25A)
Undergraduate course, Harvard University, 2017
Summary
A rigorous course in linear algebra with an emphasis on proof-writing. Topics included: construction of number systems; fields, vector spaces and linear transformations; eigenvalues and eigenvectors; inner products and the spectral theorem; determinants. The course followed Axler’s Linear algebra done right (Ch 1-7, 10) after a short introduction using Chapter 1 of Simmons’ Introduction to topology and modern analysis. This course is part one of a two-part course. The second semester is a rigorous course in multivariable calculus.
